OUR PROJECTS

Karluk Design, through our extensive resume of village projects, is intimately aware of the fact that the needs of each community far exceed the budgets available for any capital projects undertaken.  Therefore, it is absolutely critical that any facility constructed by a community be well thought out so that it can address as many of the community’s current needs as possible but can also be readily adapted or modified to address the future needs as funding becomes available.

Karluk Design’s success with developing projects that address both the immediate and long term needs of a community is accomplished by actually listening to what they to say about: what a community wants, what does or does not work in a given community, how does a community actually use a facility, what are the capabilities to maintain and to administrate a facility.  Karluk Design then utilizes this village specific information, in conjunction with our extensive knowledge of other projects, to develop an informal master plan of the community with the specific project in effect being Phase I of the long term goal.

Attendant to the success of a project to meet the physical program needs of a community is the ability of the project to bring both short term and long term economic benefits to the community.  Initially, benefits to the community are gained through the construction process by utilizing local talents to the greatest extent possible to administer the project and to construct.  Typically during the concept phase of Design Development, Karluk Design evaluates what the local talent base and skill levels are within the community and what additional talents can be obtained from neighboring communities to augment those locally available.  Then Karluk Design tailors the project design, construction details and construction methodologies to accommodate those local skills that will not only be cost effective but will ensure quality control.

Karluk Design has been very successful with tailoring the various aspects of a project’s construction to give the greatest economic benefit to the community as possible.  Karluk Design’s commitment on a project extends beyond the contractual relationship and into a partnership with the community to facilitate their plans and vision for the future.

Examples of our projects will be added to this website soon.  If you would like specific details of our experience that is relevant to your project, please contact us.
